Martin Kaymer stars at Qatar Masters

Martin Kaymer is the joint leader in the Qatar Masters ahead of the 3rd round on Friday. The event started on Wednesday and runs until Saturday, when the calm German will hopefully be celebrating his first Tour win of the season.

Kaymer will always be thought of as the golfer who holed the important putt that helped Europe retain the 2012 Ryder Cup, but he’s about much more than that – Kaymer won the United States PGA Championship in 2010 and was the top ranked golfer in the world for a time, though he was not able to keep his status as the No. 1 for too long.

The German golfer showcased his brilliant class by getting the HSBC Champions golf championship at 2011’s end, and he could do no wrong -some online betting firms such as Unibet even refused to offer odds on him making it into the top 10 because his form was that good!

Unfortunately, after that his form went down, to such an extent that there were worries that he was not doing good enough to get his place in Europe’s Ryder Cup team. But, last September, at the Medinah Country Club, Martin did not let anyone down. Many think that he would never confront a more intense scenario when he have to hole a 5 foot putt to retain the Ryder Cup for Europe.

Sergio Garcia is another golfer and Ryder Cup team member who has put together 2 brilliant rounds in Qatar Masters. At nine under par Sergio is level with Martin at the top of scoreboard on which Ricardo Santos and Marcus Fraser also figure at 9 under par.
