Martin Kaymer stars at Qatar Masters

Martin Kaymer is the joint leader in the Qatar Masters ahead of the 3rd round on Friday. The event started on Wednesday and runs until Saturday, when the calm German will hopefully be celebrating his first Tour win of the season.

Kaymer will always be thought of as the golfer who holed the important putt that helped Europe retain the 2012 Ryder Cup, but he’s about much more than that – Kaymer won the United States PGA Championship in 2010 and was the top ranked golfer in the world for a time, though he was not able to keep his status as the No. 1 for too long. Martin Kaymer to play in Qatar Masters

On Monday, the Qatar Masters organizers stated that European Ryder Cup golfers Martin Kaymer, Paul Lawrie and Sergio Garcia will be a part of the $ 2.5 million event that would take place this month.

Martin Kaymer, the German golf player, who holed the putt to make sure that Europe retails the Ryder Cup in September, 2012, in Illinois against the United States, has a very good record in Middle East golf circuits. In the past, he won the Abu Dhabi Championship for 3 times.

Speaking about his victory in the Sun City Challenge last month, he told that he is playing well after a slow beginning to previous season and it was great to finish the year with a trophy in South Africa. He told that official event website that the excitement of the Ryder Cup was really amazing for him. He may never experience a moment like this once again. He is still proud that he was able to come through for his team mates.

In this year’s championship, Scot Lawrie will defend his title. The event will begin on 23rd January and will go on till 26th January and it is a part of the European Tour’s Middle East swing that also adds Abu Dhabi event next week featuring Rory McIlroy and US golfer Tiger Woods as well as Dubai Desert Classic from 31st January to 1st February.

Martin Kaymer leaves it late

This year, German golfer Martin Kaymer won his very first title at the Nedbank Golf Challenge with a final round 3-under-par-69. He defeated Charl Schwartzel of South Africa by two strokes. The twenty seven year old golfer sunk 4 birdies at 7162m Gary Player Country Club. He came out ahead of the South African in spite of a double-bogey on 3rd following his eagle on par-5 second.

After the match, the former world number one golfer told that the second hole was a kind of extra – two great shots as well as a nice putt. The third one was not really good as he hit a bad tee shot and got into trouble.
He added that the biggest luck for him was on fourteen with his tee shot and making a birdie after that. He might have easily made a 6 or 7, so that was quite lucky that he found that ball in the right place and might chip that down the fairway and make 4 from there.

At one point of time, Kaymer was tied with South African players Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel; and US golfer American Bill Haas, at 5-under. But his consistent performance brought success at the rain filled Sun City resort.

This victory was very important for the German after a bad season. Early last year, Keymar was the world number one, but his performance went down at the end of the season. Martin Kaymer told that he was very happy after winning this year.

What To Do When Martin Kaymer Gets Booted Out Of Major

It’s been a while since Martin Kaymer won a major championship. Dubbed as the German Golf Machine, Kaymer hasn’t been as impressive as he was during his early years in professional golf. Though 2010 is just two years away, for a player who has been a contender all throughout his career, that is an eternity. It is like German sausage not made of meat and the German national football team not participating in World Cup. That is really unimaginable.

Martin Kaymer is a machine and he is supposed to reap recognition here and there, that is what avid German golf fans want from him. But Kaymer is just a human. So before you resort to watching Cartoon Network or have an affair with Tiger Woods, here are some things you can do. Continue reading “What To Do When Martin Kaymer Gets Booted Out Of Major”

Martin Kaymer expects to keep up form

Martin Kaymer feels that he will continue his good run at the Portuguese soil as he moves on to start his campaign at the Oceanico Victoria Golf Course on October 11. Kaymer holds a very good record playing in Portugal where he managed to register top-ten finish twice.

Few days back, Martin Kaymer played a terrific role in Europe’s Ryder Cup win as he outclassed US’ Steve Stricker in a singles match to secure one point that was needed for Europe’s victory. Incidentally, Europe came from behind and retained their Ryder Cup title. Kaymer required a six-foot putt in the 18th green to make it happen for Europe and he did it successfully. Later on a discussion Martin Kaymer told that it was not that easy because of the mounting pressure. All he had to do was to keep his mind cool and he did it with perfection.

The 27-year old German had a disastrous before the Ryder Cup where he didn’t even secure a single top-ten finish. But the 2010 PGA Winner rose to the occasion and proved his class. Now he thinks he is getting back his form. He mentioned that he emphasized on his swing so much that his short game was neglected a bit. Now he has started working on it and feels that it will be a matter of time when he will reach his peak. Martin Kaymer finished 34th at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship recently and told that he made some serious mistakes which troubled him at the Championship.

Kaymer is now busy rectifying his putting techniques as he heads forward to Portugal. According to him the previous experiences will fetch him some advantages in Portugal. He also asserted that he was contended with the way he hit the ball. He didn’t bother much about his performance at the Alfred Dunhill as he thought it was a bad day. Now he is confident about going there and have a go at it.

Kaymer surprised to see Brandt Snedeker in

The former world number one Martin Kaymer is shocked to see the inclusion of Brand Snedeker in the US Ryder Cup team. The US skipper Davis Love III chose the rookie Snedeker as his pick ahead of Hunter Mahan and Rickie Fowler. Love’s four picks were Dustin Johnson, Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk and Snedeker.

Kaymer is really astonished with the picking of Snedeker ahead of Mahan or Fowler. He told that although it was a tough choice between Mahan, Fowler and Brandt but the experience of Mahan or Fowler would be an asset. Snedeker is a real good player but the other two have been a part of the 2010 US Ryder Cup team and they know the pressure.

The German golfer has been out of the circuit for a few weeks and now he is preparing for the KLM Open. Having won the last automatic spot of the European Ryder Cup team, he seems a little relaxed now. He is grouped with the European captain Olazabal and his would-be-teammate in the Ryder Cup, Nicolas Colsaerts. Martin Kaymer reported that they should be sharing their thoughts on the Ryder Cup but his main aim would be to open his title account of this year.

The anxious moments are gone, said Kaymer, as he has been selected in the team. He withdrew his name from the final European Qualifying event last month and it could happen that Kaymer wouldn’t get a spot in the team if Nicolas Colsaerts had finished among the top two at the Johnnie Walker Championship. Kaymer appreciated Colsaerts performance and he wouldn’t have been so unhappy if Colsaerts were to take his place.

Martin Kaymer is a kind of a guy who doesn’t look at the leaderboard if he’s not in that championship. But he told that he was observing Colsaerts’ efforts at the Gleneagles as he was a little doubtful about his own place at the team.
