Martin Kaymer is a professional golfer born in Germany who is currently a part of both the US PGA Tour and the European Tour. The German is a winner of two major titles and was also ranked as the top golfer in the world for eight weeks in 2011.
Kaymer was born in Dusseldorf, Germany and since childhood, showed a keen interest in pursuing golf as a profession. He turned professional at the tender age of 20 in 2005 and became a member of the European Tour. Kaymer has gone on to win eleven tournaments on the Tour, four of which came in 2010, which remains his best year as a professional as he won the Race to Dubai, formerly the Order of Merit for the first time in his career.
Among those wins, was the triumph at the PGA Championship in the United States which made Martin Kaymer only the second German after Bernhard Langer to win a major title as a professional golfer. He also went on to win the World Golf Championship – HSBC Champions as he became just the tenth player in history to win a World Golf Championship as well as a major event in the same year.
He was one of the stars for Team Europe as they managed to turn a four point deficit to win the Ryder Cup in 2012 after he sank a putt on the 18th hole.
2014 proved to be an equally fruitful year for the German as he won The Players Championship, which is the flagship event of the PGA Tour and merely a month later, led from beginning to end to secure the US Open and earned his second major title in his short career.
