Martin Kaymer is a German golfer, playing professionally on the European Tour as well as the PGA Tour on some occasions. He is a former world number one, securing the most coveted spot in the sport when he usurped the throne on the 27^th of February 2011after his second placed finish at the World Golf Championship – Accenture Match Play Championship, but he lost out on the top spot after just eight weeks when Lee Westwood of England reclaimed the top spot from him.

Born on the 28^th of December in 1984, in Dusseldorf in Germany, Kaymer showed a great aptitude for the sport from a very young age and picked up his first win in the sport at the age of just 20 years when he won the Central German Classic back in 2005 as an amateur. The young Martin Kaymer made his debut on the European Tour as a professional back in 2007 at the UBS Hong Kong Open, although he failed to make the cut in the event. He went on to miss the cut in the first five events he participated in. but in March 2008, he managed to make his first when he achieved it at the Singapore Masters, eventually finishing the event tied for the 20^th place.

Although he missed six cuts in the first seven events that he took part in, the events were taking place outside of mainland Europe and once he began to play in Europe, Martin Kaymer began to come into his own and his since then, has found success on the Tour.

Although he is yet to win a major title, it is only a matter of time before the German lands one of the biggest prizes in the sport and gives some competition to the runaway leader Rory McIlroy.

On Monday, the Qatar Masters organizers stated that European Ryder Cup golfers Martin Kaymer, Paul Lawrie and Sergio Garcia will be a part of the $ 2.5 million event that would take place this month.

Martin Kaymer, the German golf player, who holed the putt to make sure that Europe retails the Ryder Cup in September, 2012, in Illinois against the United States, has a very good record in Middle East golf circuits. In the past, he won the Abu Dhabi Championship for 3 times.

The event will begin on 23rd January and will go on till 26th January and it is a part of the European Tour’s Middle East swing that also adds Abu Dhabi event next week featuring Rory McIlroy and US golfer Tiger Woods as well as Dubai Desert Classic from 31st January to 1st February.

This year, German golfer Martin Kaymer won his very first title at the Nedbank Golf Challenge with a final round 3-under-par-69. He defeated Charl Schwartzel of South Africa by two strokes. The twenty seven year old golfer sunk 4 birdies at 7162m Gary Player Country Club. He came out ahead of the South African in spite of a double-bogey on 3rd following his eagle on par-5 second.

After the match, the former world number one golfer told that the second hole was a kind of extra – two great shots as well as a nice putt. The third one was not really good as he hit a bad tee shot and got into trouble.
He added that the biggest luck for him was on fourteen with his tee shot and making a birdie after that. He might have easily made a 6 or 7, so that was quite lucky that he found that ball in the right place and might chip that down the fairway and make 4 from there.

At one point of time, Kaymer was tied with South African players Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel; and US golfer American Bill Haas, at 5-under. But his consistent performance brought success at the rain filled Sun City resort.

This victory was very important for the German after a bad season. Early last year, Keymar was the world number one, but his performance went down at the end of the season. Martin Kaymer told that he was very happy after winning this year.
